Lime Nokong, 50 of Uma Ukit

I still have about 20 plots of lands that have not been surveyed in the old home. Before we came here, they said that we don't have to farm, we'd be having jobs and salaries. But I know, if we don't farm, what are we going to eat? When we moved here, our life deteriorates. We have to buy everything. The 3 acres that they gave to each unit in the longhouse is insufficient. All the talk about facilities and development. Where are they? Clinics, roads, what else? The place here is not what they made it seem to be. The talk is all sweet outside, but inside it is sour.

In the old home we lived in luxury. Here, even the stairs of my house are shoddy. If we are sick, is there a landcruiser for us? Where am I going to find the money to hire one? I can't walk around here and there, I'm old. In Long Ayak, we can get to the clinic by boat in half an hour. Even my children have learnt to ask for money. Previously, they were not like this. Please tell Dr Mahathir to help us. He was the one who wanted us to leave.

There are thirteen people in my small unit including two couples. We just sleep side by side. Food is also less here. Sometimes we take only rice with salt and ajinomoto. The pukat here is only for hanging, decoration. Previously we could even sell game and fish. We could weave mats and baskets. I could even have some savings. Here, I can't even find rattan.

There is also no job for my son here. He passed both SRP and SPM. I didn't send him to school for nothing, you know? I can't stand the pain here. It's like death.
